History

In 1931, drawing thousands of workers to the area. Nevada state legislature legalized gambling the same year, after realizing that it had become profitable for local businesses. cheap hydroelectricity Fremont’s “Glitter Gulch.” → 1940s hotel-casinos quickly followed over 8 million people were traveling to Las Vegas, pumping $200 million into the economy. Gambling was no longer the main attraction and megastars Elvis Presley started performing.

Environment

Like God punishing man for sending a flood, Las Vegas, a city in the desert, is flooded every year.

In Las Vegas, Thursday’s rainfall of 0.58 inches brought the total for this year’s monsoon season to 1.28 inches, the wettest since 2012, which had 3.63 inches. Monsoon season runs from June 15 to September 30. The all-time wettest monsoon season was in 1984, with 4.16 inches.
